NANA GAFAROVA: TALK AND PRESENTATION OF THE AUTHOR'S BOOK
Time & Location
About The Event
Baku Street Photo Festival invites you to the meeting and book presentation of the photographer Nana Rahimova-Gafarova.
The book is an autobiographical collection of photographs taken over a 15-year period from 2004 to 2019. The author uses photography to express her understanding of how the divine manifests in humans. The juxtaposition of images, beloved poems, the light and the shadows captured in the photos is meant to evoke a feeling of deja vu, with the author serving as a conduit between the viewer and their own memories, between symbolism and life itself.
Nana Rahimova-Gafarova (b. 1983) took the dive into photography as soon as she stepped into the workshop of famous photographer Sanan Alasgarov in 2003. Although she worked in the banking sector for many years at the time, she continued taking photographs for herself and in the meantime exhibiting her works at various international and local exhibitions and festivals. She has never perceived photography as a career path since her prerogative was simply to capture her view of the world. She graduated from Azerbaijan State University of Economics and pursued her education further at Stanford University with a degree in Project Management. She is a member of Azerbaijan Photographers Union since 2005. She has participated in more than 20 solo and group exhibitions in France, Turkey, Russia, Georgia, etc. She explores the themes of emotions, feelings, and their transformation into visual images in her work.
